Corda Pledges $25,000 to the Eastern Iowa Health Center

The donation will help fund a new pharmacy in the Wellington Heights neighborhood of Cedar Rapids.

Pharmacy projected to open by July 1, 2025

Corda Credit Union has pledged to contribute a total of $25,000 over the next three years to the Eastern Iowa Health Center (EIHC) to help fund their new on-site pharmacy.

According to the Eastern Iowa Health Center’s website: With the closure of Hy-Vee on First Avenue, 1,800 individuals who received their prescriptions from EIHC and had them filled at this store were left without a pharmacy home.

“Eastern Iowa Health Center, and our soon-to-be-open public pharmacy, is truly grateful for Corda’s partnership and philanthropy,” said Joe Lock, EIHC President and CEO. “This generous gift will enable thousands of EIHC patients to gain access to medications that are vital to their overall health – and truly uplift overall population health, as well.”

The new pharmacy will be located at 400 – 12th Street SE in the Wellington Heights neighborhood of Cedar Rapids. It is projected to open by July 1, 2025.

“We are pleased to be able to help support the health and wellbeing of members of our community,” said Paula O’Rourke, President and CEO of Corda Credit Union. “At Corda, we care about people. ‘It starts with heart’ isn’t just a catchy phrase… it represents who we are at our core. We truly care.”
