Join us to support the Corda Teacher Store
We’re partnering with the Cedar Rapids Kernels to host a school supply drive for the Corda Teacher Store at the Kernels game on Sunday, August 16!
Corda Teacher Store is a nonprofit organization created by Corda Credit Union out of a deep commitment to educators and the belief that strong communities start in the classroom. In the wake of the 2008 floods, many local schools were rebuilding with limited resources. Corda stepped in to help, laying the foundation for what would become Corda Teacher Store.
Since opening in 2009, Corda Teacher Store has provided free classroom supplies to local K-12 educators, helping bridge the gap between tight school budgets and the real needs of teachers and students. It also honors Corda’s educator roots, which began with 11 teachers who helped found the credit union.
Please drop off NEW school supplies at the Corda Teacher Store truck near the Corda tent by the main entrance to Veterans Memorial Stadium between noon and 1pm. (New items only, please!) Your donation will also gain you entry to our drawing for a Corda prize pack, including a GCI Rocker Chair and Hydro Flask Cooler.
School supplies needed to keep the Corda Teacher Store inventory stocked for school visits and community events include:
- Pencils (packages of 24)
- Colored pencils (packages of 24)
- Markers (packages of 10)
- Crayons (packages of 24)
- Dry erase markers
- Packages of lined paper
- Two-pocket plastic folders
- Composition notebooks
- Eraser tops for pencils
- Boxes of facial tissues
- Disinfecting wipes
- Storage bins
